FAQs

  • I offer both telehealth and in-person therapy sessions. My office for in-person sessions is located in Decatur, Georgia on the east side of Atlanta, Georgia. Due to licensure laws, clients must be located within the state of Georgia for virtual appointments.

  • I am an out-of-network provider. I am happy to provide you with a super bill upon request to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement for out-of-network services. I do not submit claims or contact insurance companies on behalf of clients.

The benefit of working with a self-pay therapist is that you have more control over your privacy and care. Your therapist will have more flexibility when it comes to your personalized treatment. In addition, most insurance companies require access to private therapy notes as well as a mental health diagnosis to cover treatment. This limits your confidentiality, and diagnoses can potentially impact your health insurance coverage in the future.

  • The full rate for a 50 minute session is $150. Extended sessions are prorated at the amount of $150 per therapy hour. I offer a limited number of sliding scale pricing spots based on availability and need.

  • The number of sessions a client many need is dependent on a variety of factors, including the number of concerns a client wishes to address, the severity and duration of those concerns, the client’s trauma history, the client’s present-day skills and resources, and the development of any additional life stressors during the time of treatment. It is not possible for a clinician to determine or guarantee the number of sessions a client needs in advance; however, we will discuss your unique needs and circumstances in the first few sessions and come up with a collaborative plan that you are comfortable with.

I do not believe in creating dependency through therapy, and I do not continue to work with clients if I feel I am not the right fit for their needs or they could be better served elsewhere. When this occurs, I address these concerns openly with my clients and come up with a referral plan to best suit their needs. Some of my clients come to therapy to work on a single or small number of concerns for a few months to a year, while others have chosen to continue working with me for multiple years on a variety of concerns. I am here to help you determine what is the best course of action for you.

  • Similar to the number of sessions needed to reach your goals, session frequency is also unique to your circumstances. I typically recommend that clients begin by scheduling sessions weekly or every other week. The reason for this frequency is to establish rapport in the therapeutic relationship and begin to build momentum and traction on working towards your goals. After a while, many clients find that they can begin to space out their sessions more, once they have developed some of the self-awareness and skills necessary to manage more life stressors independently.

In my work with clients interested in EMDR, I see clients a minimum frequency of every 2-3 weeks, and preferably weekly whenever possible. Research on the outcomes of EMDR shows that scheduling sessions closer together is the most effective approach to treatment.

  • Clients must cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours prior to their scheduled appointment, unless in the case of a legitimate emergency. Unlike many counseling centers, I do not charge 100% of the session fee for late cancellations. Instead, I charge 70% of the fee. In the event of illness, car issues, inclement weather, childcare concerns, etc., clients have the option of switching to a virtual session in order to keep their scheduled appointment.

  • Yes, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation prior to scheduling an initial appointment in order to ensure that I am the right fit for your needs. Please visit my Contact Page to request a consultation.
